 tional jazz scene. Founded by Pinzgau music fans who found the journey to 
 other festivals too far at some point\, the Jazzfestival Saalfelden has de
 veloped over the decades from a niche concert series on the outskirts of t
 he village into one of the most important festivals of contemporary music.
  Lukas Möschl traces the history of a festival that has had to reinvent it
 self time and again due to financial challenges. He also traces the appeal
  of the festival today\, which\, with numerous stages throughout the town\
 , has become an annual highlight not only for the local population\, but a
